First, the business is a small business, and the people and the work done by far exceeds any dealer. My review is for an oil change but the attention paid to my 2016 Subaru Forester was that of an expensive task. One-on-one attention, answer all questions--not deferring them--in superior time (for a first-thing-in-the-morning apt, I waited for only an hour), Oceanworks Berkeley tracks your vehicle's maintenance with records, and they have a yes-I-can-do-it attitude. Instead of a me having a Principal Providing Physician, my Forester has a Principal Providing Mechanic. And I intend to stay with them.

Rory,
Thank you for your feedback , we appreciate it .

I have often had to drop by (it is close to my work), with my old '98 Subaru Outback. Chris has always been willing to help me figure out what's wrong, and fixes it promptly! I really can recommend them! Elizabeth

The prices are reasonable for the work done. Chris is honest and never attempts to sell me unnecessary work. He is respectful of women and never talks down to me when discussing the details of the work he will be doing for me. I always find parking near by. In my experience every repair is well thought out and done with care. I will be back. Carol

I was about to leave to drive my car up to WA from CA for a big move, and noticed it was having issues the day before. They fit me in on a busy day, got it fixed promptly, and I successfully made the drive in my older car without any issues. Thank you Oceanworks Berkeley!

My very old (1986) Ford Econoline camper has a 7.5-liter engine, among the largest displacement engine in this kind of vehicles. It did not pass smog, and I was contemplating the unthinkable: to drive it into the junkyard. With it, my wife and I had many great retreats from the rush and commotion, and we git attached. However with all the hybrids, Hondas, Toyotas, and Minis, who would even look at my dinosaur? Chris did not flinch. He found time, in the middle of a busy day, and approached my stuttering giant like a surgeon approaching a sick elephant. Deciphering some old sticker with ancient specifications, he retreated to his computer for a decisive research session, and then, equipped with a probe and 2 wrenches, he proceeded to make some adjustments in the large carburetor, (Before fuel injection) and perhaps the timing of the distributor. The old beast started humming a nice baseline, the kind that pleased the gods of smog. While engaged, Chris was composed and focused, skillful and patient. I know I was very lucky to find him even before he let me leave to re- smog the car with no charge (pay later! he said). He was right in the assumption that I would return to pay even if my car passed smog. More than that, I will come back with the other cars in my household. But please, don't tell everyone, do not swamp him with too much work! Thanks! Moshe.
